Man smiling in dental chair awaiting a dental extractionThough it’s ideal that you keep all your teeth for your lifetime, sometimes damage or decay require a tooth to be removed to avoid further damage to the teeth, mouth, and jaw. When this is the case, your teeth will need to be extracted. This can occur in multiple ways, and at Haid Dental, we always build a custom plan for you that takes into account your specific needs.

Why would I need a tooth extraction?

You might need to get a tooth extracted for a variety of reasons. First, if you have a tooth that has been damaged or decayed to a point where it cannot be restored, an extraction might be needed. If you’re suffering from a mouth full of crowded teeth, extraction may be an option. This is often the reason that we remove wisdom teeth; there’s no room for the new teeth to come in, and if they did, they would cause pain and aching in your mouth. Whatever the reason, we can complete your extraction accurately and efficiently.

I’m nervous! What should I do?

Though it is standard to numb the area before a tooth extraction, ensuring that you’ll feel nothing during the procedure, you may still have some fear or anxiety surrounding the process. Your comfort is of the utmost importance to all of us at Haid Dental. Our office is designed to keep your mind on other things while your procedure is occuring. We have comfortable chairs and televisions in every room, so you can keep yourself distracted throughout the process. If this doesn’t do the job, we have multiple types of sedatives that will help you relax, including both an oral sedative and IV sedation.

So I need a tooth extraction, what comes next?

After your extraction, it will take a bit of time for the site of the extraction to heal. We have multiple options for a tooth replacement to fill the space that remains. From dental implants to bridges, we’ll have just what you need. We will create a custom plan built specifically for you and your needs to replace the tooth that was removed.
